Our origins

We are an electronics and sound brand founded in Tokyo in 1951. Although we initially established ourselves as a brand of microphones, we were later known worldwide for our sound quality with the famous NSX and the first mini-chains with 3 CD chargers and double deck of CD. We became a benchmark in electronics and audio technology for young people of the 80s and 90s highlighting our great sound quality in our Hi-Fi Audio products.

Now we return to Europe to revolutionize, again, the world of sound and electronics with a new range of quality products.

  • 1951: AIWA is founded in Tokyo and emerged as a leading creator of audio products, including speakers, boomboxes, and stereo systems. Founded as AIKO Denki Sangyo Co., Ltd., manufacturing microphones
  • 1959: changed its name to Aiwa Co., Ltd. (アイワ株式会社), on March 10, 1959.
  • 1964: Aiwa created the first Japanese cassette tape recorder (TP-707)
  • 1968: Aiwa marketed Japan’s first boombox, the TPR-101
  • 1968: Japan’s first cassette deck, TP-1009
  • 1980: Aiwa created the world’s first personal stereo recorder, TP-S30 (marketed as CassetteBoy in Japan)
  • Late 1980s: NSX systems released: With features like dual cassette decks, CD players, radio tuners, and later models integrating early iterations of digital sound processing, AIWA NSX systems became synonymous with cutting-edge audio technology. Became emblematic of the generation’s affinity for company yet powerful audio equipment found in households and dorm rooms. 
  • 1990: expands into new markets video equipment, TVs, air cleaners, car stereos, etc.
  • 2017: relaunch of AIWA Europe

Now: AIWA is reborn and positions itself as the leading company in offering the best value for money in a wide range of audio, video, home appliances, and IT equipment products and accessories that have evolved in technology and design. Adapting to the market and the needs of our consumers, but preserving the Aiwa spirit and style. We return to Europe to revolutionize, again, the world of sound and electronics with a new range of quality products.
